in with the new... out with the old?

i  feel like my life is changing so much recently. i got crowned miss texas outstanding teen a couple weeks ago and suddenly everything is rushing past me (as if my days weren't already flying by too fast for my liking.) its been an amazing experience so far and i cant wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for me.. and although i know im growing as a young lady, i cant help but feel like im being left behind. i didnt have a summer at all. while everyone was living it up, ive been working my tail off. my best friend and i no longer speak.. not because we had a big fall out or anything, just because we drifted apart. i almost wish we had had a huge fight or something. at least that way i would have a cause and solution in my mind, this whole drifting apart thing is awful. she is just a different person now. i understand that as you get older people grow apart, but we always promised we would grow together.. that we were the exception. apparently we were wrong because this is exactly what everyone else told me would happen.. and thats what stings the most. i just miss her. we used  to be attached at the hip and now we are barely in the same room for more than 15 mins before something negative happens. i have no idea whats really going on in her life.. and when i try to talk to her about anything, all she feeds me is lies. its just really sad. the one person i thought would never let me down, pushed me to rock bottom. the one person i thought i could trust with anything, never even told me the truth. and the one person who i thought would love me forever, hates me for everything im worth. so i guess im receiving the new.. and regretfully trying to move on from my past. "God never puts us in situations that we can not handle." so hopefully i will get thru this and see why i hurt so much in the future.

new year = new me?

isn't that what people usually say? kinda goofy if you ask me. if you do that doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of everything you did last year? haha just saying. hmmm well my new years resolutions are: 1) everyday be love. sounds silly i know, but recently i've grown very fond of the saying "be love". it runs through my mind all day at random times, soooo i decided to make it official. im going to radiate love and compassion at all times. 2) getting back into shape. and i mean the best physical shape that is possible. and mental as well. 3) stop looking at things as chores and start seeing them as experiences.. its so hard to do things that you dont like to do well if you have a negative attidude. believe i know. 4) get organized.

i guess in a sense it is new year, new you.. but i like to think of it as new year, better you. i've gotta feeling about this year.. its gonna be a good one!

:)

happy new year everyone! make it count!

dance is related math!

When most people think of dance, they think of the movement quality of a dancer. Little to none of them actually consider the math and persion it takes to correctly execute the movement and achieve the "perfect" lines. Dancers not only study movement of the body, but also staging and musicality. To make a dance a complete work of art, you must include all of the above, or else the work will not be pleasing to the audiences' eye.

Lines of the body are essential to all forms of dance. Hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and classical ballet all incorporate certain body placement that define the different styles of dance. For example: in Ballet, the lines of the body are usually elongated and stretched, possessing a strong but graceful movement quality. While modern day contemporary mostly consists of broken jagged lines in comparison to more classical movement. Most lines dancers learn to create are the angles of 45, 90, and 180 degrees. Geometric shapes such as circles are also used in a  dancers work to frame the body.

Dance is also directly tied to music. In dance, the music is generally counted in sets of eights, which differs slightly in how most musicians would count it because instrumentalists would most likely count in bars of four counts. However Eight counts is standard for most music, dancers also deal with music in 3/4 time along with other time measures. This results the standard counts of 1-8 to convert into counting in 3s, 6s, 10s, and 12s. Not only does the time measure matter to a dancer, but rhythm is a huge part of a dancers job. Syncopation is key is making an interesting piece. Not only does a dancer just dance on the down beats (the numbers), they also consider the 1/8 Th. and 1/16th notes creating more opportunity for movement structure. Fractions are a huge part of musicality.

The formation a choreographer puts the dancer in is also a direct connection to math. In many cases choreographers place there dancers in symmetrical formations in a work for cleanliness of the steps. Basically what that means is that the teacher will set the dancers to dance a phrase, or part of the routine, in a specific place where as you could draw a line down the center of the dancers' formation and it would be identical on each side. It is the same as finding the symmetry line on a shape. If the choreographer wants to give a piece a more depth and interesting look and feeling to the work, they will often use a non-symetrical formation. Kind of like a irregular polygon, because if you were to draw a line down the middle of a irregular polygon the shape would be uneven on each side.

As dancers, we also tend to move in arches and on several different planes in space. This movement directly relates to parabolas and different and changing slopes of the body.

lyrics :)

"Your Ex-Lover is Dead"
by stars

God that was strange to see you again
Introduced by a friend of a friend
Smiled and said 'yes I think we've met before'
In that instant it started to pour,
Captured a taxi despite all the rain
We drove in silence across Pont Champlain
And all of the time you thought I was sad
I was trying to remember your name...

This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin
Tried to reach deep but you couldn't get in
Now you're outside me
You see all the beauty
Repent all your sin

It's nothing but time and a face that you lose
I chose to feel it and you couldn't choose
I'll write you a postcard
I'll send you the news
From a house down the road from real love...

Live through this, and you won't look back...
Live through this, and you won't look back...
Live through this, and you won't look back...

There's one thing I want to say, so I'll be brave
You were what I wanted
I gave what I gave
I'm not sorry I met you
I'm not sorry it's over
I'm not sorry there's nothing to save

I'm not sorry there's nothing to save...

i just was listening to this song (its wonderful by the way) but its just funny how certain words to certain melodies make you feel. if these words were mixed with a different melody and other notes, what feeling would they provoke with in me? haha i just had a moment of insight :)

halloween

its almost halloween people! i have no idea what in the world i'm going to be.. problem.
